But the VPN market is dominated by a couple of Service providers at the top. NordVPN and PureVPN are leading the market share and there is no doubt about them because of their ability to provide a number of features at a very effective price range. While NordVPN is based out of Panama, PureVPN originates from Hong Kong. Both countries are known for being VPN friendly but which one between them trumps the other? Let’s have a look.

NordVPN vs PureVPN

Server Strength

Currently, NordVPN has a combined total of 2200+ servers available in 61 different countries across the world. Almost half of those servers are based out of the United States alone with another 1000 servers spread across the European contingent. These servers are fully optimized to meet a user’s individual need. You can either choose to connect on a generalized NordVPN server or choose from a range of specialized servers such as Anti DDoS servers, Dedicated IP Servers, Onion over VPN servers and more. It offers the best VPN in Russia region as well.

On the other hand, PureVPN is spread across 140+ countries around the world. However, the number of servers for PureVPN is only about 750 servers which is about 1/3rd of the server strength of NordVPN.

Despite the obvious advantage of being spread across a larger number of countries, PureVPN does not have the Server strength as compared to NordVPN. NordVPN’s servers are highly optimized to ensure that the users do not feel any discomfort while using them.

Connections and Supported Devices

The group of developers at NordVPN has done a wonderful job of ensuring that NordVPN works wonderfully well on a host of devices including major operating systems such as Windows and Mac and on platforms such as iOS and Android. You can also use NordVPN on the Windows Phone OS as well, a rarity in the business. Currently, NordVPN doesn’t support the Xbox but developers have ensured that the support for the device will arrive soon.

PureVPN, on the other hand, supports Xbox and routers as well in comparison to the usual Windows, Mac, Android, iOS and Linux platforms. However, Windows Phone users are to be disappointed as PureVPN is not available for their devices.

The choice for the VPN depending upon the supported devices is very simple. People with an Xbox should opt for PureVPN and the Windows Phone user should go for NordVPN at the moment.

IP Types

PureVPN is the ultimate leader in the number of IP address available on their servers as they boast of as much as 80,000 dedicated IP addresses. However, NordVPN is able to provide you with a variety of different IP Addresses to choose from instead of a single one in the case of PureVPN. With NordVPN, you can choose from Dedicated IPs or static and dynamically shared IPs as well.

Security and Protection

NordVPN boasts of a military grade encryption. It makes use of the American Encryption Standard (AES) – 256 bit-keys encryption to protect the user’s privacy. The presence of an Internet Kill Switch to shut down your internet services if your connection is abruptly ended is an added bonus alongside the newly incorporated malware blockers CyberSec.

PureVPN makes use of IPv6, something which NordVPN doesn’t have, but provides less amount of protection in comparison to NordVPN. This VPN is also devoid of the Double VPN feature as available in NordVPN and also stores some user logs which are a strict no from NordVPN.

Protocols

Both the VPN service providers are evenly matched in the Protocols departments with both of them offering all the widely used protocols from OpenVPN to PPTP and L2TP to their users. However, PureVPN manages to deliver SSTP also to its users, something which NordVPN also hopes to replicate in the near future.

Pricing

NordVPN and PureVPN have priced their packages in accordance to the number of features they are able to deliver to their customers. Presently, NordVPN’s monthly planned is billed at $11.95 while you can get a 2-year subscription for as low as $79 which translates down to roughly $3.25 per month.

PureVPN has a cheaper single monthly package at $9.95 per month with the 2-year plan available for $59 only.

Both the VPN service providers accepts Bitcoin as a payment method and do not have a trial or limited free version available for you to try beforehand. However, NordVPN provides all its users with a 30-day money back guarantee if they are not satisfied with the product which is much longer than the one offered by PureVPN at 7 days.

The Final Say

NordVPN and PureVPN are two market leaders in the rapidly-growing VPN market industry. These two VPN Service providers are able to provide their customers with a variety of interesting features to choose from and to help them protect their online privacy and provide them with security against websites tracking their live online data.

PureVPN is spread across more number of countries across the world but NordVPN has 3 times more servers than PureVPN. This helps NordVPN is direct its internet traffic in a more optimized way in comparison to PureVPN.

NordVPN also takes a march in the features department by providing more features to its users including military level encryption between the server and the system and a number of different IP types to choose from.

While PureVPN may look like a cheaper option considering the pricing of the two products, NordVPN is a better deal between the two because of the larger variety of useful features it provides to its users.

I agree, I would say that it is better to pay more when considering security and choose nordvpn. I can’t trust purevpn after fbi scandal.
