Now release all keys at the same time. A little light on the MagSafe adapter may change colors briefly to indicate that the SMC has been reset. Boot your system for the changes to take place.
Macs with removable battery: Shutdown the Mac> disconnect the power adapter and hold the Power key for 10 seconds. Now release Power key and reconnect battery and power adapter. Turn on Mac as usual to see changes.
Desktop Mac: Shutdown the Mac > disconnect the power cord > press and hold the power button for 5 seconds > release the power button > reattach the power cables and boot the Mac as usual.
