February 7, 2020 By Jitu Dabhi Leave a Comment

Apple first introduced the USB type-C port in its new MacBook, and since then there has been a drastic change in the tech market, as the top brands are looking forward to fitting USB type-C in their devices as well. USB type-C is the latest standard in the Universal Series Bus or USB, which has single-handedly overshadowed its previous counterparts in terms of data, video, and power output. Despite having an unconventional name, the USB type-C is currently the best connectivity standard, owing to its flexible nature.

The USB type-C port promises that the type-C supporting gadgets will tremendously enhance the user experience, thanks to its incredible speed, power, and overall convenience. There is a reason why USB type-C is considered to be a single USB standard that will overshadow and rule all the previous standards of USB. There are currently four USB standards that exist in the market. The USB type-A is rectangular in shape and focuses on supporting external drives and USB keys. The type-B USB is a fading standard that was used for a while and was commonly visible on the back portion of the printers. Likewise USB type-B, the Mini USB is also being less used over time and was utilized at the device end of few external hard disks and GPS units. The tiny Micro USB is used to support compact devices like smartphones and tablets. As you can see, every USB standard has its own specifications and the same goes for the latest type-C USB standard. Combining the power delivery and high-speed potential of USB type-A and the tiny size of the Micro USB, the USB type-C is a single port that offers all USB standard and functionality.
Here are some of the upsides that you can find in the USB type-C standard:

Power

USB 3.1 plays a vital role in the type-C USB standard, as the latest USB standard is mostly compliant with the USB 3.1 advancements such as providing a vast amount of power. Earlier, the USB standards such as the 2.0 version had the ability to handle 500 mA current for 2.5 Watt of power, while the USB 3.0 increased that to 900 mA for up to a power limit of 4.5 Watt. Complying with USB 3.1 standard, the USB type-C connector can provide you 5000 mA for up to hundred watts of power.

Speed

USB type-C will also be following the USB 3.1 standard that is the fastest compared to any USB standard in the present time. This great leap will enhance and double the output transmission from 5Gbps that was with USB 3.0 to 10Gbps.

Reversible and Backward Compatible

The latest MacBook eliminated different ports and introduced one single USB type-C port. This could have easily led to a problem of connecting several devices and peripherals, but the USB is backward compatible, making it possible to connect multiple devices and several peripherals with the help of a USB type C hub. Another major benefit that users enjoy with the new USB type-C port is its reversible nature that eliminates the orientation issue which people used to face a lot in the past.

Conclusion

The advantages of operating the USB type-C port is absolutely clear. The upsides of this latest USB standard simply make it the best among all the existing USB standards.
